Singer-Composer Bappi Lahiri passed away last night at 11 45pm at the age of 69. As per an official statement from the Criticare Hospital in Juhu where he was admitted, he was suffering from Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and recurrent chest infection. The veteran was hospitalised for 29 days post which he had recovered and was discharged. He was infected by Covid last year and since then he had OSA.

It can be rightly said that he is the pioneer of disco music in Indian cinema, and his songs from the 80s and 90s are remembered even today. The music industry and the country mourns his loss, as there’s no other ‘Disco King’ that we have. His last rites will take place tomorrow.

Here’s what the official statement from his family said,

It’s a deeply sad moment  for us, our beloved Bappi Da has left for heavenly abode last midnight. The cremation  will take on arrival of Bappa From LA tomorrow mid morning. We are seeking love and blessings for his soul .
We will keep you updated .

It’s a huge loss for the industry on the whole. He will truly be missed. May his soul rest in peace. One can only remember his iconic, ‘Chalte Chalte…..Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna…‘ at this moment.
