The romantic nerd in me worships Bollywood for all its dreamy and aspirational love stories, but in the last few months, the film industry has given more admirable love stories in real life then in reel. From some much-awaited weddings like of RajKummar Rao-Patralekhaa and Farhan Akhtar-Shibani Dandekar, to some surprising ones like Katrina Kaif-Vicky Kaushal and Vikrant Massey-Sheetal Thakur, this wedding season has been really special for the Hindi film industry and I have loved every bit of it.
While I didn’t get to attend any of these weddings personally, I got to relive those special moments through these couples’ wedding pictures. I must say, the first official portrait of them as husband and wife took my breath away each time, and here’s me reliving them with you.
RajKummar Rao-Patralekhaa
I had been rooting for this couple for over a decade now and the way they have always stuck with each other through thick and thin, just reflect the power of their love. Raj and Patralekhaa were actually the couple that kickstarted the wedding season in Bollywood in November last year, and since it was the first, it automatically became all the more special. While I was mesmerised by their wedding video, the way Raj asked Patralekhaa to fill his ‘maang’ and the bride’s intricate and meaningful dupatta, it was their first picture as husband and wife that just made my heart skip a beat.
Aditya Seal-Anushka Ranjan
I was at a loss of words when I first heard Aditya’s melodious voice with which he welcomed his bride Anushka to the mandap, and these two just looked perfect together. Anushka’s simplistic styling and purple lehenga made a statement of their own, and these two looked so adorable together that I lost my heart to them. But their first official picture as husband-wife truly reflected the exciting and adventurous romance that they have.
Katrina Kaif-Vicky Kaushal
Up until November last year, no one was even sure if Katrina and Vicky were actually dating, but come December and suddenly their wedding became a national affair. I remember being glued to my phone screen waiting for any kind of update from their special day and all the anticipation and waiting seemed worth it when the first picture of Vicky and Kat as husband and wife surfaced. There was a wave of joy that covered the whole nation and rightfully so as both of these actors have achieved that stardom over the years that they have become a part of every Indian family.
Ankita Lokhande-Vicky Jain
While the whole nation was still reeling in the hangover of Vicky-Katrina wedding, Ankita got married to her beau Vicky Jain and the pictures and videos from their wedding festivities became the highlight of my social media feed. From her bachelorette, to her haldi and sangeet, Ankita gave us a glimpse of all the events from her celebrations, but it was her first picture with Vicky as a married couple that just took my breath away.
Mouni Roy-Suraj Nambiar
After a busy last two months of 2021 wedding-wise, January was silent, but Mouni gave it a perfect end as she got married to husband Suraj in a dual ceremony, one in South Indian style and another in Bengali style. The couple looked dreamy in both, and the romance in their first picture as a married couple just had me in awe of them.
Karishma Tanna-Varun Bangera
If Mouni gave a perfect end to January, Karishma gave the perfect start to the month of love, and I still can’t get over her amazing bridal entry. The expressions on Varun’s face actually said it all and their first official pictures together looked nothing short of a royal portrait.
Vikrant Massey-Sheetal Thakur
Vikrant gave a pleasant surprise to us all this month as he got married to long-time girlfriend Sheetal in her native village in an intimate ceremony. Their wedding video was just to die for and the simplicity of it just made me smile from eye to eye. But it was their first picture as husband and wife that had me smitten as these two look so in love and their journey reflected beautifully in them.
Farhan Akhtar-Shibani Dandekar
After seeing some beautiful traditional wedding pictures, the images from Farhan and Shibani’s special day brought in a little bit of freshness as I got to see a western wedding ceremony as well. While Farhan looked dapper in his black ensemble, Shibani looked dreamy in her red gown and veil. Their wedding pictures are my current obsession and I just can’t stop admiring them.
Luv Ranjan-Alisha Vaid
Luv and Alisha are the latest entrants in the list and the ones who made me revisit this beautiful journey of the recent weddings in Bollywood. While Luv has made me see some beautiful locations and weddings in his films, his own was nothing less than them. The couple looked so regal and their smiles tell their whole story. I am just awestricken by them.
It’s always beautiful to see the celebration of love through a wedding and this season, Bollywood has given me plenty of those. I am just obsessing over these pictures until the next big Bollywood wedding takes place. I suggest you do the same!
