I am a cinema nerd thus automatically, it makes me a sucker for the awards season. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, that has taken a hit in the Bollywood in the last two years, but the West seems to be back on track as recently the Screen Actors Guild Awards 2022 were held, and I was ecstatic to see the films that I had watched and the series I had binged, getting the recognition they so well deserved.

In the TV category, it was the Korean drama Squid Game, which became all the rage last year, that swept the drama category. While Lee Jung-jae won the award for Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor In A Drama Series, his co-star Jung Ho-Yeon won the Outstanding Performance By A Female Actor In A Drama Series award. On top of that, the series was adjudged the winner in the Outstanding Performance By A Stunt Ensemble In A Comedy Or Drama Series category.

Helen Mirren was given the Life Achievement Award at this year’s edition and the SAG 2022 has laid the perfect foundation for the upcoming Oscars 2022. Now, I am excited to see if there will be a huge change in the winners or the same films and people will enjoy this momentum there as well.
