Alia Bhatt has raised the bar in Bollywood with each performance of hers ever since she made her debut in 2012. The latest exemplary addition to those iconic performances has been her latest release Gangubai Kathiawadi. Getting to watch the film in theatre was a surreal experience for me and the strong portrayal of Gangu by the actress just made it all the more special. But it isn’t just the Hindi film industry that is taking note of her splendid presence on screen as today on Women’s Day, Alia’s maiden Hollywood project is announced and I can’t be happier for her.

The actress will be making her Hollywood debut with Netflix‘s spy thriller Heart Of Stone alongside some renowned names like Wonder Woman Gal Gadot and Fifty Shades Of Grey star Jamie Dornan. The film is directed by the British film director Tom Harper, who is known for his work on The Aeronauts, Wild Rose, Peaky Blinders and War & Peace. It is written by Greg Rucka and Allison Schroeder.

Heart Of Stone is the story of Rachel Stone, played by Gadot, who is an intelligence operative and the only woman who stands between her powerful, global, peace-keeping organization and the loss of its most valuable and dangerous asset.

Alia has already proven her mettle in the Hindi film industry with films like Highway, Raazi, Udta Punjab and Dear Zindagi, and she is even set to step into the South industry with SS Rajamouli‘s magnum opus RRR opposite Ram Charan and Jr NTR. Now that she is making headway into Hollywood as well, I can’t help but feel a sense of pride not just as a cinema lover but also as an Indian. She is one of the finest artists that our country has ever produced, and I am certain that even in the West she will raise the flag of Indian talent very high. Can’t wait to see her share screen space with stalwarts like Gadot and Jamie.
