I have always been very fascinated not just behind the craft of our actors, but also behind the journeys they have had. And recently, I had the honor to revisit the amazing life of action director Sham Kaushal. In an exclusive interview, we spoke about a lot of heartwarming things, and all through I could see a humble man who has been blessed with the best. And I could also see a proud father, who has not just guided but also witnessed both his sons Vicky Kaushal and Sunny Kaushal succeed in this industry.
During the interview, Mr. Sham shared how Sunny’s journey in this industry began. I recalled watching Sunny in a YouTube show called Official Chukiyagiri and saw him grow as an actor in Shiddat.
Talking about Sunny’s very first taste of this industry, Sham Kaushal said,
I remember after Sunny finished B.Com he was planning to do CA as well. After he finished his exams, I asked him what the plan was, because I thought he will do M.Com and then CA. So he told me, that he wants to join the film line after studying for one-two year. One thing I am very confident about is that my children don’t distract from the path, they will stick to one way once they’ve decided it. It’s not like they will try this, if it doesn’t work then do that. I asked him to start working in the film line right away, it was 2 pm in the afternoon, at 4 pm I was going to meet a director, so I asked Sunny to join us. And I asked the director to keep Sunny as an apprentice and from the next day Sunny began in the film line.
He further added,
Then he did an acting course, theatre, and auditions, see how he started small and today has gotten so much recognition. I always believe that you need to trust the people you are working with, the film line is the best in the world. Nobody knew me here, people gave me work. I loved Sunny’s Shiddat, the honesty that comes across on his face, you can feel it.
Well, as he told me this, I could see how happy he was as a father to see his children grow to greater heights. And he has only God to thank for it.
He says,
My journey has been beyond nice and fruitful. God has been very kind and my children and I live by the principle that be honest to the present and God will take care of the future.
