While the last two years might have been a little slow for the Indian film industry, things are gathering pace now. And for a cinema lover like me, it’s a very interesting time to be in. Amidst all the new developments and announcements, here comes one more as South India’s biggest music label Lahari Music is all set to venture into film production under the banner Lahari Films LLP, in association with Venus Enterrtainers. And they are already collaborating for their first project with director and actor Upendra.

The actor-director is known for the unusual film titles of his directorial ventures in the past such as “shhh”, “A”, “🕉️”, “👌” and many more. His films have went on to become cult classics down south. By collaborating with Lahari Films LLP and Venus Enterrtainers, he aims to entertain the entire Indian audience through this pan-India film which is being made in four languages, namely Kannada, Hindi, Telugu & Tamil.

The humongous successes of Baahubali, KGF and the most recent Pushpa: The Rise, pan-Indian films have become huge and thus, expectations from this one are also very high. The film is yet untitled and is all set to go on the floors shortly.

Talking about it, G Manoharan, Chairman and Managing Director of Lahari Music Group shares,

“After working on music with each other from the last 25 years, this association was just waiting to happen. Lahari Group has backed Upendra Ji from his acting debut film A, which went on to become the biggest hit down south and turned out to be a cult classic film during the late 90’s. We have enjoyed his films which are always filled with universal vision and we want the entire Indian audience to experience his movies now, across the country and abroad.”

Srikanth KP, Proprietor, Venus Enterrtainers says,

“After having back-to-back successful blockbuster films like Tagaru and Salaga, we are extremely happy to work with a visionary film maverick such as Upendra Ji as his vision has always appealed to people. As a production house, we have worked with him on various projects on different levels in the last two decades. I am very sure that the entire country would love this new pan-India vision that we have lined up.”

The man of the hour, Upendra adds,

“I look forward to this exciting collaboration through this pan-India film and I am sure the audience will also love this thought-provoking cinematic experience. It is the fans who created the story called ‘Upendra’ and it is the fans only who wrote the screenplay and dialogues for it for 33 years. It is through their whistles and claps I have always directed. I dedicate this film to ‘praja prabhu’ the Indian film fans.”

Seeing the lines blurring between languages and industries is always a delight to witness, and in this era of pan-Indian films, I am sure that this masterpiece by Upendra will be another jewel in Indian cinematic history.
