‘I Was Offered A Film Where 40 Percent Was The Guy’s Role And No Male Actor Was Willing To Do it’ – Kriti Sanon

Kriti Sanon has a number of projects lined up and the actress has interestingly she has signed the maximum number of projects in 2020 during the pandemic. The actress got immense appreciation for Mimi where she played the titular role and that’s also now seen in the different films coming her way. Kriti will be seen next in Bachchhan Paandey alongside Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi. The film also has Jacqueline Fernandez. Interestingly,  the film is a remake of Jigarthanda which starred actor Siddharth in the role of a director which Kriti is essaying in the Hindi version.

Ask her about this change and Kriti said,

“The role reversal makes it more interesting. There’s a different dynamic to it when the director is a female and that makes it quirkier and newer.”

While Kriti is happy that actresses are now getting equal opportunities and also roles are specially being written for females, like in case of Bachchhan Paandey; she feels there’s still a long way to go and there are very few male actors who are secure enough to let others also come at the forefront.

Kriti added,

“There are very few male actors who would let someone else take equal lead. I was offered a film where 60 percent was the girl’s role and 40 percent was the guy but no male actor was willing to do it. It’s just plain insecurity. It’s just sad and these things need to change. But Akshay sir does that. I think what Akshay sir did in Atrangi Re was so good. To have an actor of his caliber come in for a good but a small part and not feeling insecure of anyone and just playing his part honestly is so rare and commendable.”

The actress is also happy about the fact that she now gets to make a choice and gets asked about the kind of films she’d like to do! She also has other big projects like Adipurush, Ganapath, Bhediya and Shehzada lined up. It’s truly so amazing to see Kriti’s evolution and the fact that she’s come such a long way. Aren’t you guys also excited for all these lovely films lined up?
