Yesterday, when Nushrratt Bharuccha announced that she was teaming up with Akshay Kumar yet again for Selfiee, alongside Emraan Hashmi and Diana Penty, I couldn’t hold back my excitement. The actress is taking long strides in her career and I am so happy seeing the progress she is showing and it is deservedly so. Currently the actress has a plethora of projects in her kitty and I am super excited to see all these new avatars of her in those.
First up, Nushrratt will be seen opposite Sunny Kaushal in Hurdang. The film is set against the backdrop of Mandal Commission in the ’90s and after seeing these two actors’ chemistry in their recently released song Kya Yehi Pyar Hai, my expectations have risen over the roof from this one.
After this, the actress has Ram Setu, which marks her first collaboration with Akshay and the film also features Jaqueline Fernandez. It is one of the most awaited films of this year and it will also be the first time where I will get to see Nushrratt and Akshay together on screen, so that makes it all the more exciting.
Next up, Nushrratt is heading the social dramedy Janhit Mein Jaari, where she will be playing a condom sales executive and the film shows how her character’s life is affected due to her profession. Her look from the film has already increased my intrigue and even the subject of the film makes it a must-watch.
Within a short span of time of the success of her last horror film, Chhorii, its makers announced the sequel to it with Nushrratt returning as Sakshi. So, it will be interesting to see how she takes that legacy forward in Chhorii 2 that she has built so beautifully with the first film.
And now, coming to the announcement that she made yesterday, it has left me so intrigued. Selfiee marks her reunion with Akshay even before the release of Ram Setu, and the way makers have shown faith in this pairing, I am sure I am in for something special. And the camaraderie between the four actors visible in the video has hinted at how fun this ‘Selfiee’ ride is going to be.
In addition to these five films, Nushrratt reportedly also has one more film in hand which is although not officially announced, but will mark her reunion with filmmaker Luv Ranjan, and supposedly it is a silent film. So, in this day, seeing a silent film will surely be a unique experience.
Nushrratt is climbing higher and higher on this ladder of success and having seen her journey from the start, I can attest to it that it is well-deserved and long overdue. Also, I am certain that with such an amazing line up, things are only going to get bigger and better for her going forward.
