Pooja Hegde has been garnering several accolades for her performance in Radhe Shyam while of course the film was a winner at the box-office too. This girl has somehow managed to strike a connect with so many people on a Pan-India basis with most of her south films doing so well and now with Radhe Shyam which released in several languages. She’s left me mesmerised always, but here’s something you won’t believe – the actress is critical about herself.

Recently, when Hegde was interviewed by Shravan Shah, Entertainment Head, MissMalini, here’s what Pooja confessed.

She said,

“I’m very critical about myself, so after a scene, I feel like, could I have played it different. Could I have approached it in a different way, I hope I did a good job. I’m an over-thinker. I’m the president of the over-thinker’s club (laughs). Self-proclaimed president of the over-thinker’s club!”

But the actress also knows about her own her strengths and connects to her characters emotionally. When asked about a character which stayed with her, here’s what she said.

Pooja added,

“I left a little bit of my soul with Prerna. I did it early in my career, I signed it four years back. My character is going through something and I read a lot of books about what this person must be going through. I feel like I evolved with Prerna. She’s been such a long part of my career.”

Radhe Shyam has clearly been an emotionally journey for her so far, since she’s lived with the character for so long. So much so, that most often, she felt what her character was feeling.

The actress shared,

“So many times in Radhe Shyam I have cried naturally, I’ve been in the moment so much that naturally I got overwhelmed with what the character is going through. We are very different people but the emotion came. I remember Vaibhavi Merchant did a song and she said, ‘Pooja feel karti hai’, which was true as I naturally got tears in my eyes and people notice when you feel something. People have come and told me I was good in the ball-room song.”

Indeed, the actress was so good in this song. Another song of Pooja which has been a rage across India is Butta Bomma from Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. Interestingly, the film is set to be remade in Hindi with Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon and it’s titled Shehzada.

Reacting to that, Pooja said,

“It feels good that your film is being remade and it’s indeed an honour. I wish them luck for sure”

The actress really has a long way to go and will be seen next in Circus with Ranveer Singh and Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali with Salman Khan. I’m so looking forward to seeing more of her. Meanwhile, you can watch the full interview below.
