Actor Abhishek Bachchan is all geared up for his upcoming film Dasvi. And after the film’s trailer, I have been waiting for this fun story to unfold. Revolving around a CM who goes to jail and decides to write his board exams while behind bars, the film also stars Yami Gautam and Nimrat Kaur in important roles. And as the team is on a promotion spree, recently, Abhishek took a small pause to fulfill a promise he made one year ago. Yes, last year while shooting for the film Junior Bachchan had committed to the inmates of Agra Central Jail that he would keep an exclusive special screening of Dasvi once the film is ready. And last night he just did that.
While shooting for this social comedy, Abhishek had grown cordial with a few inmates, making a promise, that he kept. The screening was held for almost 2000 prisoners on a grand scale. Other than Abhishek, other cast members and senior officials from the jail also joined the occasion.

A promise is a promise!! Last night I managed to fulfil a commitment I made a year ago. The first screening of our film #Dasvi held for the guards and inmates of Agra Central Jail. We shot the film here. Their reactions are memories I will remember and cherish for a lifetime.

During his visit back to the jail, Abhishek took a stroll around showing some members of the media where they shot the song Macha Macha. And his performance as Ganga Ram Chaudhary was also loved by the crowd. The team also donated some books for the inmates to enjoy at the library. I must say this trio is terrific, whether it is Nimrat, who plays Abhishek’s wife in the film, or Yami who plays a stern police officer.
Directed by Tushar Jalota, Dasvi is produced by Dinesh Vijan and Bake My Cake Films. The social comedy will stream on Jio Cinema and Netflix from the 7th of April 2022, and I am already looking forward.
