Taaruk Raina who is presently seen in Sharmaji Namkeen essaying the role of Rishi Kapoor’s son has seen such a growth in the course of the film. It’s been a whole circle for the actor and it’s commendable how he sees his journey. I recently did a live chat with Taaruk on Instagram and I feel it’s so cool how he’s carved his path.

Recalling his initial days in the industry, Taaruk said,

“I came to the city about 8 years ago. I was 19years old that time. I was a clueless idiot. I didn’t know anything about anything. I just landed up here figuring out what to do. The first year and a half I didn’t know anything to do. But that’s the age you make such decisions in. I auditioned a lot. You get accustomed to not getting the part. When you go for your first audition, young, with full hopes but turns out, it’s not like that. Maybe it’s for some people and I respect those people. If you audition 400 times, you get 10 calls. That’s the usual thing for a new actor. You are walking around on the streets of Aram Nagar. So, a lot has changed since then.”

Interestingly, Taaruk did theatre and was an assistant director to Aditya Chopra for a year and a half.

He revealed,

“I started doing theatre after that with Akarsh Khurrana. Then I was an AD for a year and a half. I don’t know how it happened but I learnt a lot when I was Aditya Chopra’s assistant. I was on the sets of Befikre and it was my first time on a set so I learnt so much on the set. I got to spend a lot of time with Ranveer Singh and I learnt how to be on the set seeing him. Ranveer was technically so perfect too. When I came back from the film, I started hosting reality TV. Then I started doing web-shows like Pawan & Pooja, Mismatched. I’ve just taken it as it comes because I don’t think my plans are working out. I had plans but nothing works as per that. I believe I’m a musician first, that’s my first love and then I released my first single Sukoon with Sony Music. It’s been a wild ride I guess. So, yes, I’ve definitely grown.”

I wondered and asked Taaruk if being behind the camera helps as an actor too.

He responded,

“I think it’s helped me a lot. I have seen the difference in an artist when he or she knows what’s happening behind the camera. It makes you understand what you can do to make everyone’s life easy on the set. If their life is easy, your life is easy. I’m glad I was given that opportunity to be on that set. It helps in terms of understanding the set-up, camera movements. You are also more careful about everything. For example, I know how big a problem it is if you spill food on your costume. I would never forgive myself if I did that. When you are behind the camera, you realise you’re such a miniscule part of such a big film. There are 200-300 people working on making something.”
