In fact these days, I feel it’s become a fashion to build hype around the celebrations by keeping the details under wraps. One such wedding that left us all in anticipation last year was of Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif. And now in 2022, one of the most talked-about weddings is of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. Yes, several media reports suggest that the couple is going to tie the knot in the coming week. While everyone has been quizzing the Kapoor family members for a specific date, as of now, it is said that Ranbir and Alia will get married on the 14th of April.
Having said this, I realize that this hush-hush wedding style has been in practice for some time now. And a lot of celebrities have chosen to go the low-key way, where everything from the date to the wedding pictures have been withheld, guests have been made to sign non-disclosure agreements and high security has been maintained.

Ranbir Kapoor – Alia Bhatt
Even though no official announcements have been made from the families so far. Ranbir-Alia’s wedding has already become the talk of the town, and just as we speak, it is reported that the couple will get married on April 14. According to a portal, Alia’s uncle Robin Bhatt confirmed that the couple will take the plunge coming Thursday, at Ranbir’s home in Bandra, Vastu. He also said that Alia’s Mehendi ceremony will happen on Wednesday, 13th of April. As per reports, Ranbir-Alia will go to South Africa on their honeymoon, it is also said that while Alia will wear a Sabyasachi lehenga for the D-day, Ranbir and mother Neetu Kapoor‘s outfits will be designed by Manish Malhotra. Well, let me tell you once again, all of this as of now is hearsay, no official confirmations have been made so far.
Vicky Kaushal – Katrina Kaif
While I can relate to the frenzy around Ranbir-Alia’s wedding, it is only because the excitement I witnessed around Vicky-Katrina’s wedding is still fresh in my mind. Both Vicky and Katrina kept every little detail of their wedding mere speculation until they made it official with the wedding pictures. The couple got married in December 2021 in Ranthambore over 3-day celebrations. And they had kept all the celebrations’ a closed affair in every possible way.
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas
Priyanka and Nick got married in a lavish way on 1st December 2018. While the celebrations began in Mumbai, they continued in Jodhpur for four days, where the couple did not just have a big fat Hindu wedding, but also a beautiful white wedding. And what created the most hype back then was how the couple left all of us eagerly waiting for their wedding pictures.

Just ahead of Priyanka and Nick, Ranveer and Deepika took us by surprise when they got married at Italy’s Lake Como. I remember how we all waited with bated breath to see the pictures of the couple, while some from the South Indian ceremony were leaked online, Ranveer-Deepika’s wedding left me on the edge of my seat until they posted the official wedding pictures online. And boy, everything from the Sidhi wedding to the South Indian one looked like one gorgeous fairytale. And the reception that followed in Mumbai was even more beautiful.

Until 11th December 2017, I never knew that a wedding ceremony could be such a well-kept secret. But Virat-Anukha getting married in Tuscany was like a festival back in the newsroom I worked at then. From everyone speculating to figuring out details of the mansion where the couple got married, the wedding was such a hype that year. I still remember the excitement I felt on seeing the very first video of Anushka walking down the aisle with Din Shagnda playing in the background, followed by official pictures from the couple.
Coming back to the Ranbir-Alia wedding, I am only waiting to see if the couple will follow suit and post official pictures after becoming man and wife, or will the announcement come in soon. It’s a wait-and-watch, and my excitement level is just too high.
