Actress Nushrratt Bharuccha has been getting a lot of accolades for her performance in Chhorii and the recently released Hurdang with Sunny Kaushal. The actress also has a number of interesting projects lined up like Ram Setu and Selfiee with Akshay Kumar and Janhit Mein Jaari. While everything seems great for her at the moment, one can’t deny the fact that she’s carved a her way up through a difficult path.

Recently, when Nushrratt and Sunny got into a conversation with Shravan Shah, Entertainment Head, MissMalini, the actress opened up about this difficult phase.

Nushrratt said,

“My first big flop was Akaash Vani and very rarely do people realise that for two years I didn’t watch any film. I was so broken, my dream and love for cinema was broken. It took me two years to be able to look past it. People don’t even remember that Akaash Vani came. But it took time for me to get over it.”

The actress felt that nobody would give her work after the film flopped.

She added,

“The film released on Friday and I went to Kumarji’s (Producer Kumar Mangat Pathak) office on Monday. He is one producer who is always smiling and all of us were there – Kartik, Abhishek Pathak, Kumarji, me and he said, ‘picture pit gayi’. While he said that, I just kept crying. I just felt that I won’t be able to do any film well after this, or nobody would give me another chance. The first one was a very big fight to begin with. Nobody knew Love Sex Dhokha when it released. When the first still came out, every one thought it was a sleazy slapstick comedy. The first day collection was very bad. It was only later that it picked up through word of mouth. That’s why it was a sleeper hit. So, then, Akaash Vani was the first blow to me.”

Well, I’m so glad that Nushrratt has gotten over this phase and perhaps things look only brighter for her from now on. The actress has been constantly choosing such varied roles and will be seen in some highly anticipated movies. Ask her what makes her choose such varied roles, something so difficult as Chhorii and here’s what Nusshratt has to say.

The actress expressed,

“I want to do a character or be a part of a world which people haven’t seen me before in. It’s basically me testing myself. It’s me putting myself in fire and seeing whether I’ll survive it.”

She surely will survive the fire I believe. I’m looking forward to seeing much more of Nushrratt on-screen! Meanwhile, you can watch the full interview below:
