As beautiful and calming mornings can be, they can be just as stressful. With a million things to tackle and squeeze into a few hours—it might put you in a frenzy. The hurry and the worry often make you anxious and you end up skipping the most important meal of the day. Breakfast can be small and light but it is a meal that should not be skipped at any cost. There are several reasons why skipping breakfast is unhealthy and it affects you throughout the course of the day in different ways. Sometimes, we also end up skipping breakfast because of the extensive cooking and complex recipes but that isn’t a good enough reason to starve ourselves until lunch. Here we bring to you nine fuss-free simple recipes that you can whip up in a few minutes and enjoy a hearty meal to kick off a long day.

1) Eggs

Eggs are an absolute no-brainer. There is so much you can do with them and you will still not run out of options. Chop a few fresh veggies, add a buttery toast, some chilli oil, slice up an avocado, eat it with cherry tomatoes and balsamic vinegar drizzle, use up some leftover salsa, sour cream and add just about anything to whip up your version of a healthy and wholesome breakfast. The recipes are super simple, fuss-free and filling. A few easy recipes to kick start your morning could be a simple omelette with toast, scrambled eggs, poached eggs with greek yoghourt, boiled eggs,  and french toast (sweet or savoury)—the options are endless.

2) Overnight Oats

This is my all-time favourite breakfast recipe and it is the easiest thing to whip up. In a bowl add some milk, granola, freshly chopped fruits, a little bit of honey or maple syrup for sweetness, some nuts or dried fruits, some sunflower or pumpkin seeds and you’re good to go! In case, you want to make it more fun and you’re bored with the regular, there are a million variations available online with Nutella, peanut butter, lotus biscoff spread and whatnot. Chia Pudding is without a doubt super easy to make but it’s a dessert in the form of breakfast. All you need is milk, chia seeds and any toppings of your choice. In the morning, when you take it out, it’s thick and creamy, add any toppings of your choice, fruits, honey, vanilla essence, nuts, dried fruits, chocolate chunks—go crazy with it and enjoy a delicious dish bursting with flavour. You can also make a vegan version with almond milk and fruits if you feel so.

6) Rava Upma

Upma is one of the staples of any Indian household. It is made by roasting semolina in ghee with some spices, mustard seeds, cumin seeds and some vegetables. It is served by itself or with some sev to garnish the dish with. Some people also enjoy this dish with some spicy peanut chutney or coconut chutney.

A fruit bowl in the morning can keep you fresh and it is energising and filling. You can make a bowl with apples, bananas, grapes, pomegranate, sprinkle with some chaat masala, drizzle with honey or have it with a side of yoghurt or peanut butter. And you can go the trendy way by preparing a bowl of nature’s cereal with a whole lot of fruits in fresh coconut water.

9) Granola and Cereal

The easiest and most fuss-free recipe has to be cereal, it’s not even a recipe. Just take a bowl, add some cereal, pour some milk, add some honey or cinnamon powder for some extra spice or sweetness and garnish with nuts or granola to finish it off and enjoy.

Pro Tip- Always remember, with your breakfast, consumer liquids that will help you stay hydrated through the day. Avoid greasy, oily food in the morning, which may give you acidic reflux. Keep things light and simple and switch it up every couple of days to keep it fun! Don’t forget to add a cup of tea or coffee however you prefer it or some freshly pressed juice, a glass of milk or coconut water, smoothies or milkshakes with your breakfast, to wash down the food and keep you filled and also to make sure you don’t overeat through the course of the day and are hydrated.
