The trailer of Operation Romeo is so intriguing and it makes me want to watch the film soon. From the looks of it, actor Sharad Kelkar is playing an antagonist in this one and that’s further interesting because we’ve never really seen the actor in a role like this.

Ask Sharad if it’s conscious decision to take up such a different role, he agrees and further speaks about his process of getting into a role.

Sharad said,

“I have tried that all the time. As an actor also you get bored in playing the same role again and again. My process is – I first read the script well and then meet the director to discuss more about the role. So when I reach the set I don’t take time to understand because I never want to waste the production time on set. I have been a producer and I know how these things matter.”

While Operation Romeo trailer shows a young couple being harassed by police, Sharad recalls his experiences when he was in college.

Sharad added,

“I guess the moral policing has happened with all of us. In this film what we have shown is when people get harassed by the moral policing and how  harmful this can be. This film is important for the youth and the parents too on how to groom and guide your kids. I was a lanky tall guy in my college days and I used to stammer so I could never argue or defend myself. I remember in my 3rd year I was the prefect one and once I  fought with my classmates as they wanted to rag the new set of students. I managed to save them.”

The actor has seen such a wonderful transition from Television to movies with a lot of appreciation coming his way. But he doesn’t think of it as that way. He only sees every new work as a new learning.

He confessed,

“I believe stars eventually break down, but yes when you get recognition in your craft you become more persistent. Your skill will always stay with you. I used to be impatient but fatherhood changed me. When you are a parent you get lots of patience from your kid. I guess people can talk about whether it’s a success or not, but I am not in a hurry now, with every new work of mine I am learning new things.”

Interestingly, for those of you who still aren’t aware, Kelkar had dubbed for Prabhas in the Hindi version of Baahubali, and I must say, I’m so impressed by the fact that the actor doesn’t just emote through his face but also through his voice, so beautifully.

Talking about his experience, Sharad said,

“Working with a director like Rajamouli and lending my voice for a superstar like Prabhas was a huge emotion for me. I have not charged money for that. But honestly dubbing work has such low money I feel bad for the dubbing artists.”

But considering how powerful his voice looked on a character like Baahubali, I’d love to hear his voice in many more films. Moreover, I’m looking forward to seeing the actor’s performance in Operation Romeo. The film directed by Shashant Shah is set to release on April 22.
