I am a big fan of biopics as it gives me an insight into the lives of some celebrated individuals, whom I might have appreciated from afar but would have never got to know their story if not for those films. One such individual is NSG Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, who sacrificed his life during the 26/11 Taj Hotel Attacks in Mumbai to save the civilians locked inside the hotel. His biopic titled Major, has Adivi Sesh stepping in his shoes and now I have a new opening date for it.

The film has had multiple release dates push due to the pandemic over the last two years but now it is all set to hit the screens on June 3, 2022. It has been mounted on a large scale and has been shot both in Hindi and Telugu. It will also release in Malayalam as well and marks Adivi’s debut in Bollywood.

Check out the announcement here:

Major offers an insight into Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s dedication, courage, sacrifices, love and spirit of life and traces the varied phases of the beloved martyr’s life. It also features Saiee Manjrekar, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj and Revathy. Produced by Sony Pictures International Productions in association with Mahesh Babu‘s GMB Entertainment and A+S Movies, Major is directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka.

I have been invested in Major ever since its inception as Adivi and Sashi both have worked for years on this story and this script. The 26/11 attacks are one of those indelible memories in every Indian’s mind that we can never forget. Major Sandeep was one of those people who gave us hope even in that tough and bleak time and I am really looking forward to celebrating him, his bravery and his life on the big screen.
