Deepika Padukone is undoubtedly one of the biggest actresses today not just in India but globally. The actress has received recognition not just in Hindi films but in global cinema as well, and I can't stop admiring how beautifully she has represented Indian cinema globally. She already has so many achievements to her credit and now there is one more prestigious addition to that list as the actress is appointed as one of the jury members for the upcoming edition of International Cannes Film Festival.
The officials behind the film festival took to social media last night to announce the jury list of this year's edition. Headed by the French actor and filmmaker Vincent Lindon, this year's jury comprises of Deepika alongside Iranian director Asghar Farhadi, English actress-director Rebecca Hall, French director Ladj Ly, American director Jeff Nichols, Swedish actress Noomi Rapace, Norwegian director and Academy award-nominee Joachim Trier and Italian actress Jasmine Trinca.
Check out the official announcement:
With this feat, Deepika joins the illustrious list of Indian talents like Vidya Balan, Shekhar Kapur, Sharmila Tagore, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Nandita Das who have previously been a part of the jury at the prestigious film festival. The jury will award the Palme d'Or honours at the closing of the film festival that begins on May 17 and ends on May 28.
Deepika also shared this good and big news on her Instagram stories while also sharing her bio available on the festival's official website. The actress is currently in one of the best phases in her career. Just a few months ago, she had the release of Gehraiyaan and up next, she has Pathaan, Fighter, Project K, The Intern and her second Hollywood project, a romantic comedy for STXfilms and Temple Hill, which she is also producing.
It fills me with so much pride to see the international recognition that Deepika is receiving and it is all deservedly so. I am sure that this is just the beginning and there are many more bigger things to come in her career and I am eagerly waiting to see the actress shine in them.
