I’ve been quite impressed by the trailer of Never Kiss Your Best Friend Season 2 and it’s so refreshing to see Nakuul Mehta seamlessly seep into the character of Sumer while also being Ram Kapoor on Bade Acche Lagte Hai 2. Recently, I met the cast of Never Kiss... and spoke to them about this series and much more. When I asked Nakuul about this variation, here’s what he had to say.
Nakuul said,
“I’m at a place where I have opportunities and choices. I have not forgotten that 12 years ago, work was such a premium for me. Today when there’s good work, I want to find the ambition and energy to embrace it. It’s challenging, physically and emotionally, but at the same time therapeutic. Shooting something light, slice-of-life, frothy and yet not frivolous is a nice break from the intense dramas I get to do on television. I used to come on the sets of Never Kiss… and it was a breeze shooting here and then I would go back on the sets of Bade Acche Lagte Hai and be like, now let’s take on the mantle of a more mature love story and I equally enjoy that because the love we get for that show is incredible.”
What’s amazing is the fact that Nakuul did his first show on television in 2012 but continues to be loved by the audience and remain relevant even today. Perhaps, he’s only seen an upward curve in his career. When asked him, how he continues to keep up over the years and he has a very heartfelt answer to that.
He added,
“One is, I love what I do, and secondly, I constantly feed my curiousity. I’m always wanting to learn and surround myself with people from who I can learn and seek. The idea is to constantly seek and if I can seek, then in today’s language it would be relevant. Personally, my aim beyond the fame, recognition respect and glory, is to be happy on the set everyday. Because, when I’m older I won’t remember how many seasons of a show we made, but the memories that we shared, these conversations we shared. That to me, is the crux of everything. Because I enjoy with this crew, I will go back and make many seasons of Never Kiss…”
