As an actor what has always amused me about Amit Sadh is that he chooses just the right roles. But this time the actor took me by real surprise when he decided to take on an iconic superhero’s part and bring it to the Indian markets. Well, in case you don’t know, Amit along with actors Shweta Tripathi, Sharib Hashmi, Pooja Gor, Vrajesh Hirjee, Rajat Kapoor, Sarika, and many more has brought Batman to the Indian markets under the direction of Mantra Mugdh. The show, Batman: Ek Charavyuh is an audio series that is airing on Spotify India since yesterday. And while I am loving how the cast has brought Gotham City to India with all its cultural flavors, I am also smitten by Amit Sadh as Batman aka Bruce Wayne.

Recently, I caught up with Amit Sadh for a quick conversation about the same and also about his other projects. And I couldn’t help but only get impressed with the actor’s passion which was reflected in every word he spoke.

Sharing with me his first reaction to know playing Batman, and the pressure that came with it, Amit said…

The first thing was disbelief. I feel sometimes in life you just have to enjoy, I love my work and I am in a phase of life where I want to enjoy things with the process, hard work, commitment and discipline. This was something new and I wanted to enjoy it. I give full credit to Mantra, he literally put me in a cradle. We just rocked in that studio, there was no pressure for anything. There was no deliverance for me that was his problem. In the manner of just having fun and the enthusiasm with which I took on this, I am pleased and happy to see that it has come out nice.

Talking about getting on board an audio series and playing an iconic superhero like Batman, Amit said,

Sometimes ignorance is bliss and my being a novice in this realm worked for me. I didn’t over-prepare or tried to preserve my voice. I just went in to have fun, I did everything that a sound recordist will not do. Because I didn’t have the prejudice or hangover of dubbing, in all honesty, I thought the camera was on, I was feeling it (the character). I have not thrown up my voice but internalized it. One thing Mantra told me and I also realized was that these microphones hear you think.

He added further,

My experience with Mantra on creating Batman Ek Chakravyuh was fulfilling. I am on this trip to have fun. It’s a great emerging market. The Batman fans also have something new.

On his upcoming projects, Amit shared…

I am not a person who does too much, I get tired and exhausted. I get too involved on an emotional and physical level with whatever I do. Breath takes a year to make, so there is not too much, Breathe Into The Shadows is coming up, and we still have a week of work left which we will finish in a fortnight. There is an independent film I am doing on-ice speed skating that is being edited. It’s a very special film.

I have always loved the impact Amit brings in with each of his characters and even with Batman the weight that Amit has added to his voice has gotten me hooked to the audio series already.
