Ask any digital creator, and they’ll tell you that the best pictures are captured during the golden hour. This is the time right after sunrise or before sunset, when the daylight is reddish and soft, as compared to other times in the day. This hour is also called the ‘magic hour’ as it has the ability to make you look your prettiest! With the perfect lighting, somehow the skin appears flawless and looks beautiful.

Unfortunately though, the golden hour doesn’t stay all day long. So, we reached out to Celebrity and Bridal Makeup Artist Mausam Gandhi and asked her to share a few makeup hacks that can help us achieve the ‘golden hour’ look sans the golden hour. Read on to know all that she shared!

1. Get Your Skincare Right

Apply a good amount of moisturiser, just enough for the skin to look dewy under the base. A good eye cream is a must to avoid creasing and dry looking skin under the eyes. Adding a primer will blur out the pores.

Mausam’s recommendation: The Smashbox Original Primer

2. Base Makeup Is Key

Opt for a soft blur foundation. This will give you a filter-like coverage. Just the right amount to give a flawless smooth effect. Powder just the under eyes and the T-zone lightly, so that we don’t get a matte base but also the oil secretions from the skin are taken care of.

Mausam’s recommendation: The Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter foundation

3. Sun-Kissed Look

Add bronzer on the cheekbones, this will elevate your game to the next level. It has orange undertones, which are just the right shades to depict sunlight.

4. Highlighter Is A Must

Highlighter is super reflective, which gives you the exact effect of the golden hour. Apply on the cheekbones, bridge of your nose, Cupid’s bow and the inner corners of the eyes.

Mausam’s recommendation: The Iconic Illuminator

4. Secret Hack

An extra place to add highlighter is the collarbone and the edge of your shoulders. It’s the perfect trick to add that oomph factor!

5. Glossy Lips

Definitely do a glossy lip, it just completes the look and merges with the vibe. You can opt for any nude lipstick you like.

7. All About The Eyes

Use eyeline to do a thin line and wing it out a bit to give that edgy vibe. Add some mascara on the upper and lower lashes, and you’re good to go.

8. Body Oil For The Shimmer

It will make heads turn if you’re wearing something that shows off your skin! Apply it in all the places where the skin is showing including the stomach and chest. This will make you look picture perfect!

9. Blend, Blend, Blend

Use a beauty blender for the base, to look ‘lit from within’. This ensures the makeup’s blended well and doesn’t look overdone.

We hope these tips gets you the magical golden hour look you desire!
