For example, someone with OCD might obsessively wash their hands or organise their belongings in a certain way, while someone with PTSD might have flashbacks or nightmares. The list goes on and on. It’s fascinating to think about how the human brain can be so creative in its expression of mental illness. It’s also a reminder of how complex and individualised mental disorders can be.

Symptoms can vary not only from person to person, but can also differ from day to day or even moment to moment. This is one of the things that makes mental disorders so difficult to understand and treat. But it also reminds us that there is hope.
