Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known by his stage name KK formed a brief part of our growing up years with his mesmerising voice and heartwarming music. KK made his debut with his widely famous track Yeh Pal from his studio album. Not many know but he sang close to 4,500 jingles before he made his debut and shot to fame. All due credit to the sheer brilliance and his endless musical talent. KK passed away on the night of 31st May, 2022 after performing at a college festival in Kolkata.

KK’s Golden Era

KK’s songs shaped a brief period of our lives and a weaved a generation of old school lovers with the depth and beauty of his music. I remember the time when we had just entered our teenage years and we would talk about love and life through KK’s songs. A time when we would bump in to our crushes in school hallways, fall in love at tuition classes and we would wait for the one KK song to come on TV that would in it’s purest sense express how we felt and how the fluttering butterflies in our tummy took over our sanity and consciousness. A time when his songs would make us believe that the love we feel in this moment is that of destined, passionate lovers and will guide the path of our entire life from here as you wish to spend the rest of your life with them. A time when his song would be played at farewells and we sobbed as we said our goodbyes feeling every word of the songs he sang. A generation where any playlist would just be incomplete without his songs. And that was the power and magic of KK.

As we lose a gem like him, we mourn a personal loss of a man who not only shaped our idea of love and transported us to a dreamland with his voice but a guy who also gave a new definition to love songs or just music of any kind in the Indian music industry. He was truly one of a kind and an absolute legend in his field of work. We take you down the memory lane and make you revisit some of his iconic songs that will live on in our hearts forever. As he leaves us for a heavenly abode on an altogether different musical journey where he captivates the universe above us with his voice we wistfully bask in remembrance of his music and memories.
