Oh so reminiscent of Paris, Je T’aime and of course a Mumbai spin on the original Modern Love series on Amazon Prime Video, I fell in love with everything these emotional giants just did to my heart.

Let’s hear it for these six fabulous directors Hansal Mehta (Baai), Vishal Bhardwaj (Mumbai Dragon), Nupur Asthana (Cutting Chai), Shonali Bose (Raat Rani), Dhruv Sehgal (I Love Thane) and Alankrita Shrivastava (I Love My Wrinkles).

All 6 stories are keepers and somehow all feel a little bit like ghosts of relationships past and present to me.

Fatima Sana Shaikh, you are an absolutely astounding force of nature in Raat Rani and now I have added cycling down the sea link with reckless abandon to my bucket list (the other 99 are still a work in progress in my book #tothemoon – How I Blogged My Way to Bollywood included running to catch the Raj-Simran train which I actually did once upon a time in Switzerland lol.)

Wamiqa Gabbi my forever self pep talk will now be to be ready to fire at those balloons when I feel like giving up! Epic dialogue in Mumbai Dragon.

The ache and longing in Baai is palpable and Pratik Gandhi and the rest of the cast exude it with such integrity. I learned a long time ago that ache and longing is a stronger feeling than love and time and again these stories prove it to be so…

So much truth and love in I Love My Wrinkles thank you for humanising love and ageing with so much elegance Sarika. You feel like an old soul Danesh Razvi.

Also, Masaba Gupta and Dolly Singh you completely stole my heart in I Love Thane and made me want to call my best friend crying. Ritwik Bhowmik they need to start making them like you again… shy and sensitive but strong and kind.

Chitrangda Singh and Arshad Warsi’s take on love in Cutting Chai drove home what Arjun Kapoor’s Instagram bio has been telling us for ages – “people say time is money, they lie, time is life” – but this city gives me hope too Modern Love, Mumbai – just like you.

Major props to this entire beautiful cast rounded up by Naseeruddin Shah, Tanvi Azmi, Ahsaas Channa, Ranveer Brar, Tanuja, Meiyang Chang, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Aadar Malik, and Prateik Babbar, thank you for playing.
