How many of you deal with the constant annoyance that is oily skin? I definitely do. And let me tell you that it’s a full-time job. From ensuring my skincare routine only includes ingredients that banish shine and regulate sebum production to only shopping for mattifying makeup products— it never ends! Oily skin is a factor that simply cannot be changed. Just like individuals with dry skin have a lesser amount of sebaceous glands present, individuals with oily skin have more sebaceous glands. This results in excessive production of oil.
My oily-skinned angels know all too well the struggles that come along with oily skin. The constant grease and shine on your forehead, T-zone, cheeks and chin make it impossible on most days, amirite? Another factor that can contribute to your skin becoming oilier more than usual is also the climate. The more tropical or humid the climate is, the more we tend to sweat. This leads to increased production of oil. The most one can do to battle the devil that is oily skin is to make sure you’re including ingredients that reduce or regulate oil production. The first step towards doing that would be, to begin with, a facial cleanser that contains the right ingredients.
Here are a few facial cleansers that do wonders if you have oily skin.

Having oily skin myself, I’ve been using Kimirica’s newest launch the Purifying + Oil Control Face Wash for a few weeks and I love it! Specially formulated for acne-prone skin that produces a little too much oil, it also comes with highly-concentrated actives. Ingredients like lemon myrtle, green tea and brown rice act as all-rounders with their ability to control oil production, provide hydration and prevent breakouts.
Ole Henriksen, Find Your Balance Oil Control Cleanser
We know this one’s a little heavy on the pocket, but it’s worth every penny! Another personal favourite, the Kiehl’s Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face Wash has the goodness of calendula and glycerin in it. The best part about this face wash is that a little product goes a long way because it foams so well. After just one use you’re sure to see a difference in your skin. You will notice that it’s a little less oily than usual and more supple. It works well for normal to oily skin.
Minimalist, 2% Salicylic + LHA 02% Face Cleanser
As an ingredient, I’m personally biased towards Salicylic Acid because that’s how miraculous it is! Not only does it control oil production and acne, but also gently exfoliates your skin. Minimalist’s recent launch, the 2% Salicylic + LHA 02% Face Cleanser, offers benefits that range from deep cleansing to pore decongestion and sebum reduction. All of this while ensuring that your skin isn’t stripped down of its natural oils.
