I always considered Naga Chaitanya aka Chay Akkineni as a charmer from Telugu cinema. The actor who has proven his potential down South made his debut in Aamir Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha. In an exclusive conversation with team MissMalini, the actor speaks about what took him so long to make his Bollywood debut and working with Aamir.

On working in Laal Singh Chaddha, he says…

The first thought was definitely was exciting as I was about to work with Aamir sir. I am playing his best friend in the film, that excitement was overwhelming initially. Then I realized okay, it is a remake of Forrest Gump which is such an iconic film. It is a reference point to so many filmmakers and movie goers. Then the nervousness started coming. After that I heard the script. I realized they were only taking the frame work and the core idea but they have completely adapted it to our culture. When you walk out of the film, you will be walking out with the essence of these characters. After completing it, I can say it is going to be known for what it is! I am sure after watching the film, the film is going to stay with you.

On making his Hindi debut after so long he says…

It was never calculated, I never actually looked out wanting to step up something in Hindi purely because I was still trying to find my roots in Telugu. It is an industry where my family has been there for so long. My launch came with a a lot of responsibilities on my shoulders. I am still trying to prove myself as an actor and there is so much of content to explore. Somewhere I wanted to be introduced in Hindi through someone, Someone like Aamir sir, who has got so much of goodwill. His brand has a certain attachment to the audience. May be this was the kind of launch I was looking out for and when I got the call it just felt so organic. I wanted to go for it immediately.

Well, after watching the film, I must say that Naga Chaitanya has given his heart and soul to the character. I wish to see him more in Hindi films.
