We’ve all got elaborate skincare routines with our toners, essences, moisturisers and serums. It’s safe to say that most of us give the most importance to skincare, and we’re not saying that you shouldn’t. After all, healthy skin is the most radiant and nourished, isn’t it? But, how often do we pay the same attention to our scalp? Not very often. Being a beauty writer, I only realised the importance of taking care of your scalp just a few months ago.

Hair care routines often include our hydrating shampoos, nourishing conditioners and smoothening hair masks along with frizz-fighting hair serums. But none of these products will work if your scalp isn’t healthy. Its time scalp care received the same spotlight that skincare deserves, amirite? It’s not just our hair that deals with damage and aggressors, our scalp does too. After we use a gazillion hair products ranging from shampoos to hair sprays and hair masks— the scalp bears the brunt of it all. Add pollution to the mix and you’ve got yourself an itchy, irritated scalp. And if this wasn’t enough, all the residue and build-up left behind from our hair care products causes the scalp to become greasier than usual.

Now, I’ve never used a serum for my scalp ever before, only one for my strands. So naturally, I was really excited to put this to the test. Kerastase’ Potentialiste Hair & Scalp Serum just launched in India a while ago. Enriched with 1% Vitamin C that neutralizes the harmful effects of daily aggresors and 10% Bifidus Prebiotic which contain good biomes (bacteria) that fortifies and protects the scalp barrier, this serum is definitely hella impressive. Here is all that this hair serum is supposed to do –

  • It balances your scalp.
  • It regulates oil production of the scalp.
  • It soothes an irritated and uncomfortably dry feeling scalp.
  • It also leaves your scalp feeling refreshed and revitalised.

The Verdict

Since I’ve been using this scalp serum for almost 3 weeks now, it’s become quite a staple in my everyday haircare routine. I love the consistency and texture of this product, it’s quite thin and is easily absorbed in the scalp. Which is something that works really well to leave no residue at all. After using it consistently, I definitely did see some improvement in the over all condition of my hair. I found my roots becoming less oilier than usual, which is so surprising because I workout everyday. This leads to a lot of sweat and buildup on my scalp which further leads to itchiness. Another change I noticed was that my hairfall reduced by a minor amount. Ever since I bleached my hair, I’ve been dealing with a little more hair fall than usual. However, these past few weeks my strands seem to have been behaving. Overall, I definitely think that Kerastase’s Potentialiste Hair & Scalp Serum is a great addition to your haircare routine. If used consistently, you’re going to see the health of your scalp get better and better each day.
