Ananya Pandey is one artist that I feel is climbing the stairs to success steadily. When I saw her in Gehraiyaan, I was moved by her performance. I think she gave a whole new dimension to her character Tia in that film. However now the actress is looking forward to her upcoming release Liger with Vijay Deverakonda. In an exclusive interview with team MissMalini, Ananya speaks about choosing different characters, having a PAN India presence and much more:

On conscious decision of choosing different roles…

The roles I have been drawn to have been different from each other. I have been very lucky and fortunate that scripts like these have come my way. Growing up now, learning so much more from my previous films, Gehraiyaan, I see a huge change in approaching characters. So there is a conscious effort as I don’t want to bore myself and people. There is so much work to do and so many characters to play. So many films that I wanna be a part of. The idea is to keep reinventing myself by choosing different roles.

On being called PAN India artist…

As an actor you want to reach out to the widest possible audience through your films. Even in the lockdown we realized the access we have to watch cinema all over the world. I think a film like Liger, the core of its emotion is relatable to people. I can’t imagine anyone in any part of the world not enjoying it.

On South films doing well in Box-office…

I think it is the spirit of heroism in general. Alia said in an interview it is not about a man or a woman, even Gangubai Kathaiawadi had that heroism. As a country and human in general, we are probably going through a phase in craving to watch a sense of heroism, to watch that fight of spirit, watch the underdog coming out.

Well, after watching a few of her films, I feel that the girl is here to stay. I am sure Ananya is going to surprise me again on August 25 when Liger releases in cinemas.
