Steamy movies— whether or not you admit it, a part of you secretly enjoys watching them. Don’t worry, I am a massive sucker for a good ol steamy movie too. And I know this for a fact that everybody around the world enjoys them too. After all, movies like the Fifty Shades Of Grey Trilogy and 365 days practically broke the internet when they were released. I still remember the uproar when Fifty Shades Of Grey hit the screens, in fact, the movie didn’t even hit the screens in India, despite a lot of the explicit content being censored and cut down.
Most of the time, a steamy movie makes for a great date night idea to spice things up between your partner and you. On other days, it makes for a rather sensual guilty pleasure. Over the years, there have been numerous movies that make temperatures rise, it’s definitely not something that has transpired in recent times. Sometimes on a Friday night, you just wanna stay in, order some Chinese food and put on an exciting, steamy movie. This one for all those Friday nights!

Fifty Shades Of Grey Trilogy
I don’t think any movie might have caused an uproar as this one did. Slightly problematic in it’s very concept as argued by netizens of the Internet, 50 Shades Of Grey tells us the story of a wounded yet charming Christian Grey who meets his match in Anastasia Steele, a young and challenging woman. The trilogy focuses on a relationship between a dominant and a submissive and all the nuances of it. This means there are lots of steamy moments that will make you raise your eyebrows.
365 Days
Again, a problematic watch the Internet was divided on and how! 365 Days is a Polish erotic thriller film that made the entire world fall in love with Michele Morrone. The story traces the steps of a Polish woman who’s in a loveless relationship and having a dangerous encounter with a Sicilian mafia don. He kidnaps her and gives her 365 days to fall in love with him. What ensues is a tale filled with lots of drama, sex and the gorgeousness that is Michele Morrone.
Nymphomaniac Vol I & II
Now this one falls in a slightly different category if you compare it to the previous 2. The Nymphomaniac series directed by Lars von Tier is a grim yet intriguing depiction of the life of a nymphomaniac. She’s discovered all beaten and bruised in an alley by a bachelor, to whom she recounts her wildlife experiences as a nymphomaniac. Though these films depict a lot of sexual experiences, at the same time they also give you a glimpse into a troubled life.
Addicted
We all love a good erotic thriller in this house and Addicted is a classic example of that. Especially when it involves a hot extra-marital affair, no? This movie traces the story of a gallerist who is blessed with a beautiful family and has a flourishing career. She puts it all at risk when she meets a painter and has an affair with him. With lots of moments that will constantly keep you at the edge, this movie is truly something else.
Lust Stories
In an extremely shocking turn of events, it was so refreshing to see Indian cinema come up with it’s own movie that showcased the nuances of sex and relationships. We come from a society where sex is obviously considered taboo, despite the number of our population saying otherwise. Lust Stories is an anthology of 4 stories, each one of which traces a different story of sex and relationships. We get to see a side of Indian cinema that’s been kept tucked away for far too long.
Deep Water
Now, do you realise just how much we enjoy erotic thrillers here? But what’s better is this one happens to be a psychological thriller too. A tale of a dreamy marriage that seems perfect to any outsider, but murky waters lie ahead as this couple loves playing twisted mind-games with each other. Though this film wasn’t critically well-acclaimed, it’s a riveting watch either way.
Secretary
This 2002 erotic comedy film deserves a shining spot in this list because it seems to marry two genres in the most seamless way possible. It weaves together a compelling and intriguing story of a relationship between a timid secretary and her lawyer. With themes of BDSM being explored, there are quite few graphic scenes that will make your jaw drop fosho! However, it’s quite the watch especially if you’re the kind of individual who likes knowing more about the intricacies of sexual relationships, you’re going to love this one.
