Exclusive! ‘My Mother And Sister Were Instrumental In Pushing Me Into Sculpting’– Raqesh Bapat

Nilesh Rao

I remember watching Raqesh Bapat in Tum Bin in 2001. From then till the actor has successfully been a part of Hindi and Marathi films. His recent song with Shamita Shetty Tere Vich Rab Disda has been ruling the hearts of the audience. Another thing I like about the Bigg Boss 15 contestant is his ability to sculpt. The actor has been creating lord Ganesh idol since his school days. In an exclusive interview with Team MissMalini, Raqesh not only makes a Ganesh statue but also opens up about being dyslexic as a child and how he could connect to art.

Check out his recent song here:

Check out the excerpt from the interview:

On being a dyslexic child, he says….

Raqesh terms himself as a curious kid, who always wanted to do something different. I was majorly dyslexic as a child, so I could connect with art. My way of expressing works through either painting or either sculpting. That gave me a piece of mind. It would make me feel different. It was troublesome for me to go out with normal children. My mother and sister were instrumental in pushing me into doing this. They were like it’s okay the way you are. You don’t need to be running the race. That’s how it started.

Elaborating about simplicity in Lord Ganesh’s idol, he shares…

I don’t like dressing Ganpati up so much like people decorate the statue with jewelry, pearls and diamonds. They don’t need all these things. That’s against what I believe in, that is sustainability. I feel simple is always beautiful.

Well, I must say Raqesh is truly an inspiration.
