I have always been very fond of Kunal Kemmu as an actor, whether it was as a child artist or when he delivered a brilliant performance in Kalyug. In fact, even when Kunal ventured on to the OTT space with Abhay, I was very impressed with the actor in him. But looks like now Mr Kemmu is all set to don the director’s hat. Yes, you read it correctly, on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi yesterday, Kunal announced his directorial debut Madgaon Express. The cherry on the cake is that not only is Kunal directing the film, but he has also written it and the project will be produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani‘s Excel Entertainment.

While sharing about this new venture that Kunal has taken on, he wrote on Instagram…

Ganpati Bappa Moriya! As all good things begin with his name I can’t think of a better day to share this with all of you. It started with a thought in my head, which grew into a dream which flowed out through my fingers into words on my laptop, and now it is becoming a reality on its way to the silver screen. A big thank you to Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, and Rucha Pathak at Excel movies for believing in my script and my vision and partnering with me on this exciting journey in the world of cinema. With folded hands and a bowed head I seek all of your blessings and the blessings of Ganpati Bappa. Introducing “Madgaon Express”.

Honestly, I am very curious to learn more details about this project. Also, with such a rich experience of the craft, I am looking forward to seeing cinema through Kunal’s vision. I am sure it will be quite an experience and I wish him luck for the same. On the acting front, Kunal has Kanjoos Makkhichoos and Malang 2 in the pipeline.

Looks like the near future holds lots of thrill, excitement, and adventure for Kunal and I am waiting to witness all of it.
