I was extremely fascinated by the first look of Emergency, starring Kangana Ranaut. The emotions, sound and background score in the clip gave me goosebumps. And after that every week, the actress has been revealing different characters in the film on social media. In July, Anupam Kher’s look was also unveiled, the actor will play late politician Jayaprakash Narayan. In a recent media interaction Anupam opened up about working with director Kangana and how he was left mesmerized by her suggestions. Interestingly, it is the 527th film of the veteran actor.

For the uninitiated, Anupam’s character Jayprakash Narayan was one of the prominent leaders who stood against emergency. The Saraansh star essays the role of a historical figure, who changed the scenario of independent India. He was popularly known as Lok Nayak. He was known for leading the opposition against then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He was also a recipient of India’s highest Honor Bharat Ratna in 1999 for his contribution towards the field of social work.
The project has been produced by Kangana’s production house Manikarnika Films and has been helmed by the actress herself. Kangana, who plays Indira Gandhi was seen in a cotton saree and spectacles in the first look teaser video of the film. She had captioned the post as,’ Presenting ‘Her’ who was called ‘Sir’.
Emergency also stars Shreyas Talpade as Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the project. The screenplay and dialogues are penned by Ritesh Shah. Check out more characters from the film here. I have to say the talented actors Kangana has roped in for this film only makes me look forward to it.
