For a few years, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and SS Rajamouli have totally left us amazed with grandeur on the big screen. The period dramas they brought to us with Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat, and Baahubali have only taken the bar high. And now, it is Mani Ratnam who is all set to treat us with another visual spectacle with PS-1. The multi-starrer is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s novel Ponniyin Selvan and talks about the Chola Dynasty. Yesterday, the film’s trailer was dropped and I couldn’t help but get smitten by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan‘s royal avatar as Nandini. But that’s not just the highlight, the 3-minute 23-second trailer is so spectacular that it will leave your jaw dropped.

This multi-lingual period action film comprises a stellar star cast, along with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, we will also see Vikram, Trisha, Karthi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayam Ravi, Prakash Raj, and others. From the scale to the drama everything about PS-1 is just epic. The film tells us the story of the early days of Arulmozhivarman who later became the Chola emperor. In all honesty, the trailer gave me some strong Game Of Thrones and Baahubali vibes.
This one is Mani Ratnam’s dream project. While PS was initially supposed to be a stand-alone film it now has 2 parts. PS-1 releases on 30th September and I cannot wait to see the story unfold on the big screen.
