After playing the character of Anamika Anand in Fame Game, Madhuri Dixit Nene is back with another powerful role. This time she will again play a mother but of a different kind. The makers of her upcoming film Maja Ma released its trailer and man I am impressed! The film also stars Gajraj Rao, Barkha Singh, Srishti Shrivastava, Rajit Kapur, Simone Singh, Sheeba Chaddha, Malhar Thakar and Ninad Kamat. It will be premiering on October 6 on the Prime Video.

Before elaborating about the film, let’s check out the trailer here:

The story revolves around Madhuri’s character Pallavi, who is a pillar of a middle class family. Her son played by Ritwik, is about to get engaged. Pallavi is the closest to her son in the family. Due to difficult circumstances, the bride’s family threatened to return to their home in the US. In the middle of all this, how Madhuri keeps the family together forms the crux of the story. I love the way she says about having her own identity at the end of the clip.

It is a family entertainer, set against the celebratory backdrop of a traditional festival and a quintessential, colorful Indian wedding. Warm and funny, this light-hearted yet thought-provoking drama with unexpected twists and turns.

On directing the film, Anand Tiwari says…

I truly believe that the audience today is looking for content that is fresh, varied, and modernistic in its approach, yet keeps the humble storytelling at heart. Audiences are open to new genres and new experiences and Maja Ma does all that and more. Pulling at the viewers’ heartstrings while also making them laugh at the same time this beautiful story features a highly versatile cast who breathe life into their characters flawlessly and beautifully. I am delighted to have Maja Ma premiere on Prime Video. It is truly fulfilling to witness Indian content reach worldwide audiences

The project has been produced by Leo Media Collective and Amritpal Singh Bindra. The beautiful story has been written by Sumit Batheja.

Well, I am looking forward to seeing Madhuri playing the lead again, in a never-seen-before role. Eagerly waiting to stream this one from October 6 on Prime Video.
