If you go back and list down the blockbusters of the year, Brahmāstra: Part One– Shiva is sure to make its way to that list. This Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer is probably the most spoken about film of the year, even through the pop culture lens. Do not tell me Alia’s ‘Shivaaa’ does not ring in your head every time you read the name of the film. One thing I wasn’t sure of though, was it making the same impact on the Box Office as well. And oh how it did! Not just the Box Office, but it also made a noise in the OTT space, making it the most watched film on OTT this year.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Karan Johar, made sound waves when it first released on the big screen. People had extreme opinions about it, but one thing was for sure, everyone was talking about it. I was star struck with the cameos, from Shah Rukh Khan to Nagarjun, and even Amitabh Bachchan. Something only the Ayan and Karan duo could pull off. This brain child of Ayan was in the works for nine years and was released on 9th September in the cinemas, and was released on Disney+Hostar on the 4th of November.

After a successful box office run, I am extremely excited by, and grateful for, the response to Brahmāstra’s digital premier on Disney+ Hotstar. The long journey and the efforts of the whole team on ‘Brahmāstra – Part One: Shiva’ can now be put at ease. I thank all the viewers, our fans and supporters for tuning in and discovering the Astraverse.
The fans sure did have a big role to play in this success, and the craze that the song releases caused. May it be the lyrics or the dialogues, it had a grip on the audience.

This film was a dream project for all of us, and moreover for Ayan Mukerji, who worked on it for a decade.
