Any and every millennial would know the significance of Barbie as an entity in our lives. It wasn’t just a doll or a toy, but a dream for every little girl who played dress up and dreamed of being a Barbie in her own way. In fact, a few people in the world even went under the knife to get features that looked like this notorious doll. Now, turning all those dreams and aspirations into a reality, Greta Gerwig is bringing to us Barbie The Movie. The film’s teaser was released yesterday and it spoke about the special relationship little girls shared with their baby-like dolls until a barbie came into their lives.

While I was gushing over this very amazing teaser, some ardent Hollywood fans were quick to point out that these first glimpses of the film’s inspiration stem from another film’s trailer. Yes, the netizens pointed out that there were major similarities that Barbie The Movie’s teaser had with the 1968 sci-fi film 2001: A Space Odyssey. They even shared a video on Instagram highlighting what all is similar and watching it left me quite mind blown.
Inspiration is all creativity needs to bloom and this film for sure will pull some special strings in our hearts. Having said that, I am super thrilled to witness Barbie’s la la land. Barbie The Movie stars Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie in the lead roles. The film is produced by Warner Bros Studios and releases in July 2023.
