What a year it has been for OTT, great performances, great shows, some even gave us great albums, and so much more! OTT as a platform has exposed us to so much more talent. Each character playing a role on an OTT platform has so much more meaning and value. If I had to name a few, Abhishek Bachchan in Dasvi, or Shefali Shah in Delhi Crime. Here are some shining stars of OTT in 2022 that truly took my breath away and here’s why…
Abhishek Bachchan
He is a true blue performer, and not many acknowledge it. After films like Dasvi and Ludo, it is evident how well Abhishek can get under the skin of a character. OTT is his space and he does not take up a lot of shows or films, but when he does, he makes sure they leave a mark on you.
Pratik has been a notable name in the Gujarati cinema industry for a while now, but he truly won hearts with his OTT debut in Hansal Mehta’s Scam 1992. This year he is set to prove that he is not a one time wonder kind of guy, with a number of OTT releases and films lined up for him which includes an untitled film with Vidya Balan.
Manav Vij
Manav came through with a power packed performance in Tanaav and how! According to him, he would only rate his acting a 4 on 10, but not for me. You may have seen in many negative roles, and it is these intense roles that make him what he is.
I honestly feel I will always not have enough time to speak about Shefali Shah’s roles. No matter how what the role is, may it be playing a mother in Darlings, or the lead role in Delhi Crime, she makes sure her presence is felt in every show or film. Her striking characters are sure to stun you, and that is a given. Can’t wait to see so much more from her this year.
A queen in every sense, after dominating the big screen, Vidya Balan is here to steal some more hearts! She truly is a Sherni in every sense. Her gripping hold on her viewers through her characters is what truly sets her apart. You feel for her, and you feel with her, this is precisely what makes her a shining star of OTT.
Manvi Gagroo
From Four More Shots Season 4 to Tripling Season 3, what a year it has been for Manvi. Her characters have been favorites of many since people found it very easy to relate to them. She brings out the emotions and makes the audience feel and relate to them.
Yami Gautam
Not many can pull of the small town girl next door, as well as Yami Gautam. That cheeky smile, the spring in her every step, truly steals my heart every time. But then came Thursday, where she went beyond her comfort zone and truly gave it her all in this badass role.
Radhika Apte
Or you can also call her Netflix’s favourite girl. From Monica O My Darling to Raat Akeli Hai, she is sure to deliver. Her eyes emote so much in every role that she takes up and I feel that is one of her charms. With Mrs. Undercover as her next project, I hope to see those eyes do its magic on screen once again.
RajKummar Rao
Is any OTT list really complete without mentioning RajKummar Rao? His performance in Badhai Do stole the show in every sense. He adds his own charm to every role he takes on. Playing a gay cop, who is not out to anyone, and having to maintain the duality in his character throughout the movie was a job that only he could pull off.
Kirti Kulhari
We know Kriti is famous for her role in the Four More Shots Please series, but I honestly feel she really shone through in Criminal Justice. You empathize for her character, and never want to turn your back on her. If you want to catch the best of Kirti, Criminal Justice S2 should be on your list.
It was very hard to list just 10 OTT stars, because I honestly feel this space is booming with talent. There is so much that it has to offer, and you as an audience should welcome it with open hands.
