Here’s a big win for India, who would’ve thought a song we all danced to, all through the year would shortlist at the 2023 Academy Awards under the Best Original Song Category. Well, I for sure didn’t! This is India’s first entry at This iconic song, that got all of us thumping in celebration, from RRR that features Ram Charan and Jr. NTR. And let me tell you, the film is competing not just in one, but two categories at the Oscars. Along with Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu, the film itself has also been shortlisted for Best Non English Film.
We also have the Gujarati language Chhello Show(The Last Show), which is India’s official entry for the 2023 Academy Awards in the International Feature film category. That is not all, two films in the Documentary Feature Film category have also been shortlisted from India – All That Breathes and The Elephant Whisperers.
The 95th Academy Awards will be held on March 12, 2023 at the Los Angeles’s Dolly Theater. Hoping to see these gems sweep it off for India. Looking back at India’s previous entries at the Oscars, we have Gully Boy, Newton, but only Lagaan, Salaam Bombay and Mother India have managed to secure nominations.
