What if I told you, you could explore Maharashtra and all its gems from the comfort of your home, along with a great host! Sai Tamhankar is here to take you on a culinary detour and reconnect with her homeland, Maharashtra. Postcards – a seven part series on National Geographic will take follow Sai as she tries out scrumptious food, visits historical places of worship, forts and old monuments. And how can one miss out on shopping, as she tours these seven cities in Maharashtra.
The show kicks off in the city of Mumbai. Ever wondered what it would be like to be a tourist in your own city? Sai is here to show you what that would be like. You think you know a city well, until you actually take out time to truly discover it. From the wide variety of food that the city has to offer, to the crazy street shopping. I am excited to see what spots does she take us to, in her most favourite city in the whole wide world.
When asked about what made her take this up, here is what she had to say,
It was Postcards from Maharashtra, and Maharashtra is home. So there was no reason for me to say no. And ofcourse when I was asked for this, I knew I wanted to go to places that I had only visited but not explored. It was a win-win. This is the kind of work that gives you a lot of satisfaction. An insight within your state and country, how beautiful it is because very often we take our cities for granted. It has opened my horizon. It was just what I needed, a great year ender I feel.
Here’s what she had to say on her relationship with Maharashtra,
You can’t explain it in words. It is like my umbilical cord is rooted in Maharashtra. My janm bhoomi and my karma bhoomi are in Maharashtra. It is home. It is more diverse than you think. Where I belong, Sangli, you will find a different language, a different cuisine every 50kms. I think there is no country as diverse as ours. And it was a huge learning and a wonderful experience for me.
