I was taken by surprise yesterday to learn that Rakhi Sawant has been married to Adil Khan Durrani for seven months now. The photos, videos, and proofs doing rounds on social media only validate that the wedding has very much happened. However, Adil went on to deny this marriage to certain sections of the media and this left me wondering what happened between the couple. I got in touch with Rakhi Sawant to talk about the same, and she opened her heart and spoke about everything that has been going on in her life.

As per the Nikahnama, Rakhi married Adil at her house in Oshiwara, Mumbai on 29th May 2022. The Nikah took place at 1:30 pm and a meher (security deposit) of Rs 51,786 was given to the bride. The Nikah happened in the presence of a Vakil (guardian) – Abdul Kadir Lokhandwala, and two witnesses, Kulsum Bi Naseeruddin Naik and Ahmed Riyaz Shaikh.
Talking to me about the marriage, Rakhi says…
I had a Nikah, and also a court marriage. He got married to me on one condition, which was to hide the marriage for 1-2 years. He said we will reveal the marriage once his sister gets married. I have already had an accident in my life before, and I don’t want that to repeat. If the news about our marriage was out in the media, his family would find it difficult to find a suitable groom for his sister due to their connection to the industry. I am a believer of Christ. I didn’t want to do anything haram becuase we are staying together, working together, so I told him that we either get married or have no relations. After Adil entered the industry, his family started having difficulties finding a groom for his sister, hence I agreed to keep this marriage a secret.
Revealing why she announced her marriage all of a sudden, Rakhi cried as she shared,
When I came out of Bigg Boss Marathi I saw something that I cannot reveal, but it was heartbreaking, so I immediately announced my marriage. A lot of things have changed after Bigg Boss. I don’t know what is stopping him, why is he denying the marriage. I can only say that may Allah bless him and show him the right path. He’s kept my name Fatima, which is a very pure name. I have started praying and I am learning Urdu. I just want to make him happy, even though I am believer of Christ. If he divorces, I will die. I love him a lot and I want to old with him and I know that he loves me too.
Rakhi further added,
I am really shocked! It feels very insulting. I was sweeped of the floor with what I saw when I came out of Bigg Boss. I am a strong woman and I will fight for it. Main apne husband ko paa ke rahungi. I urge the country not to judge me. I forgive all the girls who were behind Adil because they didn’t know that he was married. I don’t know why he is denying the marriage.
While Rakhi continued to cry she also shared,
My mom is not okay, she is fighting cancer. She is in pain. I understand that they don’t like me working in industry but I don’t have an option. There will come a day when I earn a lot so that I can surrender this completely. Till then, I need some time to work. I have to work to pay my mother’s hospital bill, please don’t judge me on my clothes or what I talk in front of media. I am very proud to have Salman Khan as my brother. I only believe in love, I believe in Adil, he will never ditch me. Right now, there must be a reason why he is denying the marriage, but we are living together as husband and wife. I just want to live a good life.
