Every day is special when you love what you do and you do what you love. Well, that’s the lens our latest Bollywood Superhero looks through at the world. What’s great about him is that this young dynamic individual isn’t running behind winning the world, his aim is to create a better one. When I spoke to PR Professional Mehek Singhi, he took me through his journey of eight years in this field and I must say, I did learn a thing or two from him. Mehek has worked with the biggest brands and I have witnessed him only get better at what he does, well, it is all thanks to his ‘looking at the glass full approach’. As you go through his journey, you too will turn into an admirer of this young gun for who the sky is the limit!

Sharing how it all happened, Mehek says…

This was an accidental job, I was freelancing in events for two years where we organized award shows. Eventually, I got an opportunity in PR that I always thought was fancy. Thinking it to be a glamourous life I just entered into it, and then I understood that it’s not everything the world sees from outside. There are lots of challenges to face, lots of dedication and passion is required to fulfill your goals and achieve a lot. When I started off, it was difficult, there was lots of learning required, but that’s what helped me be where I am today. All industries have a great future; it depends on the individual on how they craft it for themselves. I look at a challenge as an opportunity to achieve more. My biggest fight is with myself, I want to do the best, I want to be the best.

He has definitely worked with the best across industries, be it sports or entertainment, and talking about the same he adds…

I have worked with almost everyone from the Indian film industry, some in South too, also a lot of sports personalities. I have done a lot of projects in these years. Every day has been special in this journey. I love what I do, it is the passion that keeps me alive. The most heartwarming moment of my career has been getting a kabbadi player on the cover of a reputed magazine. That was an achievement because it was the first magazine cover for any kabaddi player. I am very proud of that.

And the thrill that still keeps him going is…

The challenges still keep me going, they help you grow to the fullest. Also, my passion towards this profession, I want to be in that place where I am satisfied with what I am doing. Doing different things every time is the thrill, there is no right or wrong. You need to keep exploring and innovating yourself, that’s it.

Explaining an evident change he has seen in this industry, Mehek quips…

I come from that bunch who have seen the evolution of traditional media into digital media. I still remember how we used to scan newspapers for coverage, crop it on paint and then send it to the client. Now it’s all screenshots and done. The game has evolved from front pages to websites, the change is evident and it is not really an easy one to adapt. You have to keep innovating yourself and stick to learn, unlearn, and relearn, that’s the most thrilling part.

A piece of advice he would give to all those who wish to choose this profession…

A PR professional needs five top things, they need to be a make shifter, solution driven, should know to build good relationships, be passionate about what they do, and keep challenging themselves. Don’t take it as a job that gets you a salary, do it wholeheartedly, that’s my advice, it’s not that difficult to succeed, having the right mindset would do it

Well, for Mehek sky is the limit, and I know that he has a very long flight to take. This man is just getting started and has no plans to stop anytime soon. So here’s wishing him all the very best in everything he does.
