Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus, Ponniyin Selvan 1 won a lot of hearts and was an absolute blockbuster at the box office. The trailer very much declares that the Cholas are back and there are clear rifts between the branches. The trailer raises questions such as, will the Chola dynasty have to be divided and ruled? And who will rule these parts? To answer these questions we will have to wait and watch. The Ponniyin Selvan films are based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s popular novel on the life of Raja Raja Chozhan. With a screenplay written by Mani Ratnam, Jeyamohan and Kumaravel.
