Shefali Prabhu

As the highly anticipated release of Adipurush draws closer, I have compiled a selection of mythology films that share similar themes. Explore these captivating movies that will transport you to the realm of ancient legends:

1.Ram Setu
An archaeologist played by Akshay Kumar embarks on a quest to solve the mysteries surrounding the legendary underwater bridge connecting India and Sri Lanka, which is said to have been constructed by Lord Rama. This movie is available on Amazon Prime Video and it is a must-watch.

2. Brahmastra
This is the tale of Shiva played by Ranbir Kapoor who discovers he is an astra and has powers and goes on a quest to find love and discover himself. Along the way, he encounters various wicked forces that endanger existence. This movie is available to watch on Disney + Hotstar and is my personal favourite film as the visuals and the soulful songs will blow your mind away and leave you mesmerized.

3. Bahubali
In the kingdom of Mahishmati, Shivudu pursues his love and during that, he surprisingly discovers the troubled history of his family. He then had to be ready to confront his newly found enemy. This movie is so interesting and absolutely mind-blowing to watch. It is action-packed and will keep you on the edge of your seat. It is available on Netflix and Disney + Hotstar and is a must-watch.

4. Raavan
This story draws inspiration from the epic Ramayana but presents a unique perspective from Ravana’s point of view. In this narrative, Ravana, who is Veera played by Abhishek Bachchan, takes on the role of the protagonist. Veera kidnaps the wife who is played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan of a police officer with the intention of killing her. However, he becomes captivated by her bravery and decides to spare her life. This leads to a series of dramatic events. This movie is so well made and the acting is absolutely mind-blowing. I urge you to watch it on Disney + Hotstar.

5, Raajneeti
Raajneeti is a gripping political drama that is said to be the modern-day version of Mahabharata that dives into the complex world of politics and power struggles. The film revolves around the family of a political dynasty. It showcases the lengths people are willing to go for political dominance and the sacrifices they make along the way. This movie kept me engaged and entertained throughout. It offers a thought-provoking reflection on the dark side of politics. It is streaming on Netflix and is a must-watch.

All of these films are extremely well-made mythology films and should be definitely added to your list!
