When Karan Johar sits on the director’s chair, there’s a reason why everyone’s expectations of experiencing cinema in an enhanced manner heightens. With Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, I felt this by every bit and beyond. The stellar star cast, inclusive of Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra, and Shabana Azmi manages to fill up the screen with their magic getting the audience to experience every emotion. The storyline stays true to the predictions made when the trailer was dropped, with a few elements of pleasant surprises. So, here is the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani movie review.

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani revolves around the love story of Rocky Randhawa (Ranveer Singh) and Rani Chatterjee (Alia Bhatt), who belong to contrasting worlds but meet thanks to star-crossed lovers from within their family (no, I’m not giving spoilers!) from years ago. Amid the efforts of bringing the lovers from the past together, a new love blossoms and this marks the beginning of the drama within the households that unfold. Rocky and Rani decide to live in each other’s house for 3 months to get their families to know them better and help Rocky and Rani get a chance to win over the families too. Along the path, the stereotypical practises of patriarchy and classism within the households are met with realisations of how to get with the times and bring the much needed change.

Karan Johar brings this love story to life with the perfect casting of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. Along with foundation of love, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani generously has with some hilarious comic moments that’ll get you laughing and emotional moments that’ll get you teary-eyed. The songs with the magnanimous sets ensure that not only are your ears but also your eyes are treated to the grandeur. The snow clad Kashmir locales with the tunes of ‘Tum Kya Mile’ sure helped me feel the Yash Raj classic Bollywood romance.

There were quite a few Bollywood references that were predicted in the trailer and as the songs dropped one by one. To all those who could feel the 2 States and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham vibe in the snippets before the release, there’s a dash of that too for you! Jaya Bachchan saying, “Keh Diya Na, Bas Keh Diya” is what I’ve longed to hear since years, and never imagined for it to come true, until today! Not to forget the wonderful performance of Ranveer Singh and Tota Roy Chowdhury on Dola Re Dola that Dhindhora Baje Re reminded everyone of. TBH, KJo played it smart by ensuring that the predictions being a part of the film would put the chitter chatter to rest in the best manner.

So if you’re looking at experiencing Bollywood in the most stereotypical, entertaining, best way ever… Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is a must-watch.
