Saif Ali Khan has been part of the industry for over three decades now, and it absolutely shows with the array of films and roles he has to his name. From romantic comedies to intense dramas, he has donned a variety of roles that have showcased his remarkable acting range. I have been an absolute fan of his from his Hum Tum days, and who wasn’t? On the occasion of his birthday, let’s take a look at some of his best performances that truly showed us what a versatile actor he is.

1. Dil Chahta Hai

This film is and will always remain a cult classic for many youngsters. Saif’s free-spirited role in this film charmed us and how! His character as Sameer resonated with many with its light-heartedness. The movie also starred Aamir Khan and Akshaye Khanna and took us on a journey of true friendship along with their ups and downs.

2. Cocktail

Saif played the role of Gautam, a charming and carefree man in this drama-comedy. It was very interesting to see him balance out the two contrasting lead actresses. Khan’s portrayal showcased his affable side, infusing the movie with humour and emotional depth. The film makes for an easy watch, and Deepika’s character as Veronica also left quite an impact.

3. Love Aaj Kal

In one of Imtiaz Ali’s most iconic films, Saif played a double role. As Jai, he portrayed a modern-day commitment-phobic man, while as Veer, he embodied an old-school romantic with deep emotions. The way he displayed this versatility in one movie is remarkable.

4. Omkara

In Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Omkara’ Saif Ali Khan portrayed the character of Langda Tyagi, a conniving and treacherous individual. It was very different from his previous roles, where he won hearts with his charm. This time around, he did win hearts, but for taking on a character like this and committing to it thoroughly. It highlighted his ability to transform into complex characters while playing an antagonist. Some incidents also happen with said Ali Khan on the set like He Was Supposed To Shoot Naked For A Scene

5. Vikram Vedha

I was blown away by his performance in this one. Starring alongside Hrithik, in this two-star-led film, Saif Ali Khan really made his presence felt with his gripping performance. He essayed the role of a diligent cop, who had his own set of vices and complexities in life to deal with. The actor’s character was layered and beautifully portrayed on screen. It surely made for one of the best performances of that year.

I surely have my favourite roles of Saif, which one do you think is yours?
