Nitin Desai who was known for his art direction in films like Lagaan, Devdas, Jodha Akbar, and many more iconic films, was found dead at his studio in Karjat. The cause of his death as per sources is said to be suicide. He was at ND Studios, which is owned by him, which is where the unfortunate incident took place. He has worked with iconic directors like Ashutosh Gowarikar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Rajkumar Hirani and Sanjay Leela Bhansali in his career that spanned 20 years.
The police have said that they have not recovered a suicide note from the location. It is also said that the art director was under tremendous financial pressure as his studio was not running well, but there is no confirmation of this from the police or his family. His studio served as a set for many iconic films, but the most iconic one remains to be it is set for Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss. Nitin’s last Bollywood projects as an art director were Panipat (2019) and Paurashpur (2020). In Paurashpur, he was credited as a production designer.
