Shah Rukh Khan and Twinkle Khanna starrer ‘Baadshah’ released on August 27, 1999 and is still one of the most popular Hindi-language action comedy films of Bollywood. Directed by Abbas-Mastan, ‘Baadshah’ is the 8th-highest-grossing film of 1999 worldwide. Talking about the film in an interview, Twinkle Khanna made a revelation about her diet during the shooting of the song ‘Mohabbat Ho Gayee’. Here’s what Twinkle had to say…

The actor-turned-writer disclosed in an interview with Shrayana Bhattacharya on Suitable Conversations that during the shooting of ‘Baadshah’, she resorted to essentially starving herself. She recalled surviving on channa (roasted gram) to fit into the body-hugging outfits. “So, this was my diet. And in this song, Shah Rukh Khan had to lift me up, and I was so scared that I would explode like the gas canisters in the Parliament, but I didn’t. So if you see my teeth clenching there, other things are also clenching and just holding on, but yes, I survived that bit as well,” Twinkle Khanna shared.

On the work front, Twinkle Khanna’s fourth book ‘Welcome to Paradise’ is out now. A collection of short stories, ‘Welcome to Paradise’ deals with themes around parenthood, loneliness, marriage, death and love.
