The 1992 Indian epic drama film ‘Khuda Gawah’ starred Amitabh Bachchan, Sridevi, Nagarjuna, Shilpa Shirodkar, Danny Denzongpa, and Kiran Kumar in pivotal roles. Written and directed by Mukul S. Anand, ‘Khuda Gawah’ was the third highest grossing film of 1992. One of the most interesting facts about the film is that Amitabh Bachchan sent a truck full of roses to the very beautiful Sridevi to convince her for this film.

I feel that sending a truck full of roses to Sridevi is totally fair, and I truly appreciate Amitabh Bachchan’s gesture because the iconic and supremely talented Sridevi has added her own magic to all the films she has starred in.

Late choreographer Saroj Khan, who was working on a song with Sridevi, recalled the roses incident in the book ‘Sridevi: The Eternal Screen Goddess’ by Satyarth Nayak. “We were filming a song when the truck arrived. They made Sridevi stand near it and the whole carrier tilted over, showering roses on her. It was quite a visual,” Saroj Khan shared.

The sweet gesture did impact Sridevi, but she still wasn’t convinced and made an interesting demand that she will star with Amitabh Bachchan in the film only if she got to play the roles of both his wife and daughter. Filmmakers Manoj Desai and Mukul Anand accepted her condition, and the film turned out to be a massive hit. Sridevi and Amitabh Bachchan’s last on-screen collaboration was in the 2012 film ‘English Vinglish’ directed by Gauri Shinde, where Amitabh Bachchan made a special appearance.
