The Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2024 felicitated the most brilliant contributions to cinema, and several Bollywood celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukherjee, and Vidhu Vinod Chopra, marked their presence at the event. Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan were also spotted on the red carpet, and they may not have posed together, but seeing these two iconic film stars in the same frame stirred up nostalgia amongst Bollywood fans who are die-hard admirers of Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Jab We Met’. As the iconic superstars bumped into each other at the prestigious award function, let’s recall what Shahid Kapoor had to say in one of his old interviews about his encounter with his ‘Chup Chup Ke’ co-star a few years ago…
In a conversation with Hindustan Times in 2016, Shahid Kapoor spoke about bumping into Kareena Kapoor Khan at an event when she was pregnant. “Yes, I did bump into her and it was heartwarming to see her fully pregnant, because I’ve just been through (that experience of) having a baby. I felt happy for her. I asked her when she was due, and she told me it is sometime next month. She also asked about Misha (Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput’s daughter). So it was very nice,” Shahid Kapoor shared.
After Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s breakup in 2006, the couple never shared screen space in a film; however, they did star in ‘Udta Punjab’, but the movie didn’t feature Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s scenes. We don’t know whether the actors will ever star in a film together in the future, but if they do, I’m sure it’ll be a blockbuster (coming from a die-hard ‘Jab We Met’ fan).
