Kiran Rao is currently riding high on the success of her film ‘Laapataa Ladies’, which has been receiving a really positive response from the audiences as well as the critics. In a recent interview, the director opened up about ‘Laapataa Ladies’ and also revealed her plans to watch Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Animal’. Here’s what Kiran Rao had to say…

In conversation with Lallantop, Kiran Rao spoke about her film ‘Laapataa Ladies’ and also gave insights on the Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Animal’. “‘Laapataa Ladies’ has gotten so much love, I am grateful. Even the critics have liked it. When the audience likes a film, it’s often not necessary the critics will. The audience likes action-packed, VFX-heavy films these days. Films like ‘Animal’. I want to watch the film, it’s necessary. It has done so well because people have loved it. I’ve heard that Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s craft is really good. Ranbir (Kapoor) is also a good actor. It will be an interesting watch for me, people seem to love it,” Kiran Rao shared.

I truly respect Kiran Rao for acknowledging that films like ‘Animal’ are not her cup of tea, but she would like to give them a try for their cinematic craft and nuances. Even I appreciate Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s craft and how brilliantly he filmed ‘Animal’. Sometimes the stories may seem misogynistic, but at the end of the day, audiences should understand it’s a film and shouldn’t try to replicate problematic behaviors in real life.
