In the colourful tapestry of Bollywood’s history, there are tales that often resonate with unexpected twists and turns, capturing the imagination of fans and enthusiasts alike. One such intriguing story hails from the personal life of renowned producer Boney Kapoor, where family traditions collided with matters of the heart, leading to a heartwarming yet amusing incident. Amidst the backdrop of his widely publicized marriage and separation, Boney Kapoor recently shared an endearing anecdote that sheds light on a unique moment involving his late wife, the legendary actor Sridevi, and a cherished family tradition – Raksha Bandhan.

In a candid conversation, Boney Kapoor recounted the amusing incident when his mother, the matriarch of the family, decided to intervene in his blossoming relationship with Sridevi in her own quirky yet heartfelt manner. He revealed that while his then-wife, Mona, was already aware of his feelings for Sridevi, it was his mother who discovered it later on. “My mother could see (my feelings for Sridevi). On one of the Raksha Bandhans, she gave a thaali (puja plate) with rakhi to Sridevi and asked her to tie me a rakhi,” Boney Kapoor chuckled as he reminisced about the unexpected turn of events. The situation took an amusing twist when Sridevi, perhaps taken aback by the gesture or simply unaware of the significance of Raksha Bandhan, innocently retreated to her room without comprehending the true intent behind the ritual. Despite the initial confusion, love eventually prevailed, and Boney Kapoor and Sridevi went on to tie the knot on June 2, 1996.

As Boney Kapoor’s next cinematic offering, “Maidaan,” featuring Ajay Devgn in the lead role, gears up to hit the silver screens, the producer continues to weave captivating tales both on and off the screen. Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma and co-produced by Boney Kapoor and Zee Studios, “Maidaan” promises to captivate audiences with its riveting narrative and stellar performances from a talented ensemble cast, including Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and Rudranil Ghosh.
